This reader gathers texts that emerged from two events held in conjunction with Lu Yang’s exhibition DOKU! DOKU! DOKU! samsara.exe at Amant. Avatar Studies: Inquiries into the Digital Medium convened artists, designers, and theorists whose work unfolds within the many ecosystems of digital creation. Devotional Circuits invited six participants to “write alongside” Lu Yang’s immersive worlds of spirituality, transcendence, queerness, and technological mysticism.

The texts gathered in this publication reflect on how virtual spaces intersect with lived experience and how artists are redefining the emotional, philosophical, and material stakes of working digitally.
